NC State transfer Jacarrius Peak could make his South Carolina debut against the first team of consequence the Gamecocks play this season, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Saturday.
Peak is currently rehabbing from a knee injury he suffered in February while playing pickup basketball. The Gamecocks left tackle (as well as star pass rusher Dylan Stewart) is not expected to be ready to go for Week 1 against Kent State, according to a report from Wednesday.
However, Zenitz reported Saturday “there is optimism” that Peak will be ready to go for South Carolina’s SEC opener against Mississippi State.

Realistically, that’s about as good of news as South Carolina fans could have hoped for back in February when Peak initially suffered the injury. The former Wolfpack left tackle was brought in to protect LaNorris Sellers’ blind side and help shore up a South Carolina O-line that struggled last season.
The Gamecocks needed some good news on the injury front. Just last week, head coach Shane Beamer announced that wide receivers Jayden Sellers and Jayden Gibson would miss the 2026 season with lower-body injuries, a significant blow to USC’s passing game.
