Jake Bentley won’t curtail his touchdown celebrations this fall

As a true freshman in 2016, Jake Bentley started seven games for the South Carolina Gamecocks and threw nine touchdown passes.
That meant he got nine chances to celebrate, and celebrate he did, often doing a fist pump that was reminiscent of a young Brett Favre.
Heading into the 2017 season, Bentley told the SEC Network that he has no plans to stop his intense celebrations this fall:
“Every touchdown could be the last one you throw, so I want to celebrate every one,” he said.
Bentley admitted that he has heard from teammates about the intensity of his fist pumps, though:
“The fist pumps get a little excessive at times, I’ve heard,” he added with a laugh.
Bentley will be given the green light to continue celebrating, as coach Will Muschamp said he loves the passion his quarterback plays with every time he takes the field:
“I love it. I think it’s great how passionate he is to be the quarterback at South Carolina,” he said. “I’m happy he’s on our football team.”
South Carolina opens the 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2, against NC State. If the Gamecocks are going to win that game, Bentley will probably need to throw at least a couple of touchdowns.
The game kicks off at 3 p.m. Eastern time in Charlotte and can be seen on ESPN.
