Jake Coker, former Alabama QB, shares thoughts on Jalen Milroe ahead of Michigan game

Former Alabama quarterback Jack Coker knows a thing or two about winning big games.
Coker, who won the national title with the Crimson Tide in 2015, has faith that current Alabama QB Jalen Milroe can get the job done in this season’s College Football Playoff.
“I think he has proven throughout the season that he is a very adequate pocket passer,” Coker said on The Paul Finebaum Show on Friday. “I was really shocked at the way he managed the pocket and really went through his reads and kept his eyes down field in comparison to what I saw last year.”

Milroe has compiled 2,718 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions for the Crimson Tide so far this season. On the ground, the sophomore play maker has 468 rushing yards and 12 scores on 140 carries.
Led by Milroe, Alabama’s impressive run in 2023 began following a tough loss to Texas, also a CFP contender, during Week 2 of the regular season. After upsetting Georgia in the SEC Championship game, the Crimson Tide squeezed into the CFP as the fourth seed.
Coker believes Milroe is “going to be the difference maker” for Alabama during the CFP.
“They’re starting to win now because of Jalen Milroe,” Coker said. “We win close games when he plays a little above average for Jalen. But when he plays like he did, for example, against LSU, I don’t think there’s any way Michigan stops us.”
Alabama (12-1) is set to face Michigan (13-0) in the Rose Bowl game at 5 p.m. New Years Day on ESPN.
