Jared Ivey talks fumble recovery in Ole Miss’ win over Auburn, SEC player of the week honors
Ole Miss beat Auburn on Saturday to move to 7-0 on the season.
The Rebels weren’t as stingy on defense against the Tigers as they have been most of the season, but they did come up with some big defensive plays that had a major outcome on the game.
Most notably, Ole Miss forced and recovered a fumble by Tigers quarterback TJ Finley late in the 1st quarter.
The Rebels scored 3 plays later to stretch their lead to 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter, going on from there to a 48-34 victory.
Ole Miss defensive end Jared Ivey recovered the fumble on the play but joked Monday during Rebels media availability that he might have forced it as well.
“There’s an angle where it looks like it was all me, there’s an angle where it looks like it was him (Tavius Robinson),” said Ivey with a laugh. “But who cares….We met at the quarterback. Party at the Quarterback.”
Jared Ivey on whether he or Tavius got the forced fumble against Auburn: "There's an angle where it looks like it was all me, there's an angle where it looks like it was him (Tavius). (Laughing) But who cares….We met at the quarterback. Party at the Quarterback."

Earlier Monday, Ivey was also recognized as one of the SEC’s players of the week, as was teammate Quinshon Judkins, which was a source of both pride and surprise.
Jared Ivey on earning SEC Defensive Lineman of Week: "I literally just found out. I was shocked. I went to twitter and RT it. Saw Quinshon won (Freshman of the Week) and super proud of him."
