Jason Jones, former Alabama DB, joins Crimson Tide coaching staff

Alabama has hired former Crimson Tide defensive back Jason Jones to its coaching staff.
Jones played for Alabama in the late 1990’s and was a 3-year letter winner. He was part of the 1999 Alabama team that won the SEC.
In a statement, Jones said he’s thankful for the opportunity to return to his alma mater as an assistant defensive backs coach.
“The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa are special places to me,” said Jones. “My coaching career started here as a graduate assistant, and to be able to come home and coach at your alma mater is truly a blessing. I am so thankful to Coach DeBoer for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this great staff, and I am excited to be back. I can’t wait to get to work.”
Jones was previously the cornerbacks coach at North Carolina. He’s been an assistant at the collegiate level for the last 20 years, working at programs such as Ole Miss, Indiana, Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer also released a statement on Jones’s hiring.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to add Coach Jones to our staff,” DeBoer said in a press release. “He has a proven track record of success with defensive backs, and I know he will be able to make a significant impact on that group along with our defense as a whole. It is also great to be able to add a guy who played and coached here, and his knowledge of this University is invaluable.”
