Jaxson Dart wrapped up a historic college football career this past season, leaving Ole Miss as the program’s all-time passing leader with 10,617 yards. Now, he’s trying to boost his stock for the NFL Draft, and one analyst is particularly ready to watch Dart spin it in Indianapolis.
Ahead of the NFL Combine workouts, NFL analyst Peter Schrager ranked Dart as the quarterback he is most excited to watch this week. Among the other top QBs, Shedeur Sanders will not throw while Cam Ward remains undecided on whether to throw or not.
But for Schrager, Dart’s intriguing profile takes the cake in terms of interest this week:
“For the past 3 seasons, he’s been their primary starter and has been electric,” said Schrager explaining his reasons. “In the past 2 years, they went 11-2 and 10-3 and Jaxson Dart was the starting QB in a loaded SEC, and this guy put up huge, huge numbers. 4,279 yards this year, 29 touchdowns, just 6 interceptions… He’s got the build.”
As for Dart’s prospects for the draft, Schrager believes there’s a strong chance the QB makes his case to be a 3rd first-round selection at the position behind the other top prospects:
“I’ve long been a Jaxson Dart fan, I remember when he was coming out of high school so I’ve always been charting his career. And you talk about Ward and Sanders as like 1-2 and then this big drop-off, I don’t see it that way,” Schrager said. “It could be Ward and Sanders and Dart could be your 3rd first-round QB.”
We’ll see how it plays out in Indy with Dart getting on-field workouts and team interviews as an opportunity to prove he belongs in the first-round discussion.
