Former 5-star OL Cade Mays transferred from Georgia to Tennessee this offseason and figures to be an important part of the Vols’ line either this year or next.

That uncertainty comes from the fact that it’s unclear whether or not Mays will get an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA for 2020.

But, whenever he can play, Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said he expects Mays to transition seamlessly into the Vols’ offense since former Georgia OC Jim Chaney is now the Vols’ offensive coordinator (via the Chattanooga Times Free Press):

“It’s probably pretty easy for a guy getting to use the same terminology that he was playing under,” Pruitt said. “It will probably be a seamless transition. Cade is a smart guy, and football is important to him.”

That’s certainly a plus for Mays, especially since spring practices were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Now, we’ll just have to see if he can play this fall or not.
