Florida head coach Jim McElwain is always good for an interestingย quote, and he weighed in on several key issues during Monday’s teleconference.
McElwain on new proposed redshirt rule:
Weโll just do what they tell us. Why not just let them play? Give them five years to play and call it what it isโฆ I do think thatโs a good rule.
On the OL:
โThis is the best (unit) since Iโve been here. There were some numbers issues, and thatโs nothing against anyone that was here, but that unit has consistently gotten better. That unit will be a true strength for the Gatorsโฆ Iโm excited to see them play.โ
On promoting Randy Shannon to DC:
โIโm excited for Geoff Collins. We had five guys that I was approached about this offseason. Thatโs awesome, hate to lose them but itโs recognition for what weโve done. Having a guy on staff, we didnโt have to change terminology, now heโll put his own flair on it but having a guy on staff has been really good.โ
On Rawleigh Williams:
โIn the big picture, I have such respect for the decision. Thereโs so much more to life. Heโs a heck of a player and I can tell heโs probably one heck of a person.โ
