Joel Klatt says Miami has ‘inside track’ to College Football Playoff berth
Joel Klatt is a big believer in Miami after seeing the Hurricanes dominate in Week 1.
Klatt moved Miami all the way up to No. 6 in his updated rankings following Week 1. He said he believes Miami has the “inside track” to a College Football Playoff berth in 2024 thanks in-part to Cam Ward.
“I think Miami now is going to run the ACC,” Klatt said. “Namely because Cam Ward is the best quarterback in the ACC. So they jump all the way up to No. 6. Inside track on a Playoff berth for Miami out of the ACC.”

Ward was excellent in his Miami debut on Saturday in The Swamp. He went 26-of-35 for 385 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception against a talented Gators defense in a hostile environment. He also used his legs to the tune of 33 yards on 3 carries.
Miami entered the season behind both Clemson and Florida State in ACC betting odds, but that has shifted in a major way. The Hurricanes are now favored to win the ACC at +190, according to the latest odds from FanDuel.
FanDuel also gives Miami good odds of reaching the College Football Playoff at +120. With the 5 highest-ranked conference champions automatically included in the CFP under the new format, Miami should have a clear path to a CFP berth if it can win the ACC.
Miami will host Florida A&M in Week 2.
