Josh Donaldson brought some serious thunder as well, as he clobbered the ball for a walk-off grand slam against Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Donaldson’s Yankees are currently in first place in the AL East, and with these kinds of plays, it’s not hard to see why:

Not only did Donaldson help the Yankees achieve a come from behind win, he also cemented himself in the club’s history books. Donaldson was just the third Yankee to hit a “walk-off” grand slam with the club trailing by at least 3 runs, joining Jason Giambi and Babe Ruth. He was also the fifth Yankee ever to hit a “walk-off grand slam in extra innings,” per the Yankees’ PR team.

This isn’t Donaldson’s first foray into baseball stardom. Donaldson was voted the American League’s Most Valuable Player in 2015, and was named a starter in the All-Star Game. Prior to his professional career, Donaldson was a standout for Auburn, where he hit .276 and led the team with 10 home runs in his sophomore year. Donaldson also threw out 15 of 38 base stealers and had seven pickoffs before being drafted in the first round by the Chicago Cubs in 2007.

He’ll be a key player for the Yankees down the stretch this year.
