Mater Dei football coach Bruce Rollinson has coached some legendary quarterbacks, from Matt Leinart to Matt Barkley to Colt Brennan to Bryce Young.

But, even among those greats, Rollinson said Georgia QB JT Daniels stands out.

So, when Daniels made the decision to transfer to Georgia from USC, Rollinson said he was excited. He explained he liked the choice because of Georgia’s new offense (via DawgNation):

โ€œJT had hit a crossroads,โ€ Rollinson said. โ€œI knew heโ€™d come out on top.

โ€œI liked his choice a lot because I watched enough Georgia football, and I knew that was the type of offense he would thrive in.โ€

The biggest concern Rollinson had? Whether or not Daniels would be given enough control of Todd Monken’s offense. Rollinson said Daniels’ film study is second to none:

โ€œI used to kid JT, because weโ€™re grinding until 8, 9, or 10 oโ€™clock at night on school nights, and there were times Iโ€™d look down and see lights on in the conference office,โ€ Rollinson said. โ€œIโ€™d say, โ€˜whoโ€™s here?โ€™ And it would be JT in front of the projector.โ€

Daniels didn’t start for the Bulldogs until late in the 2020 season as he recovered from a knee injury suffered during his USC days. But, now that he’s fully healthy, it’ll be interesting to see how much he improves this fall.
