Kalen DeBoer reveals that key defensive lineman is expected to miss remainder of 2025 season
The hits keep on coming for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama.
Following a stunning and beyond disappointing 31-17 loss to Florida State in the season-opener Saturday, DeBoer and his team have been facing their fair share of criticism from across the college football landscape.
And now the injury bug is working its way through the Crimson Tide players.
On his weekly radio show, Kalen DeBoer revealed that starting defensive tackle Jeremiah Beaman suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s practice and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season.
That reality is especially damming given the position Beaman plays. Among multiple players that missed the opener for Alabama was Tim Keenan, the presumed starting defensive tackle heading into the season. Beaman stepped up in Keenan’s place against the Seminoles, but with both now bordered by injuries, the Tide’s depth at defensive tackle is thin.
Beaman appeared sparingly across 3 games in 2024, recording 2 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Keenan has compiled 79 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks over his first three seasons in Tuscaloosa. He is working through an ankle injury and is expected back at some point this season, although he will not play this weekend.
Luckily for DeBoer & Co. the new tackles that step in for Beaman will have the chance to ease their way into action. Louisiana-Monroe visits Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, followed by Wisconsin and a bye week.
