Kentucky adds offensive assistant to Mark Stoops staff ahead of 2025 season
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops has added a veteran offensive line coach to his support staff for the upcoming season.
On Friday, the Wildcats announced that former Tulsa offensive line coach Greg Frey has joined the program as an assistant offensive line coach. Frey will work with Kentucky o-line coach Eric Wolford during the upcoming season.
Frey has been coaching around the FBS since the 1999 season. He spent the last 2 years at Tulsa, first as a tight ends coach and run game coordinator and then as the Golden Hurricanes’ offensive line coach. Before that, he was an analyst at South Alabama (2022), a line coach at Duke (2020-21), and an analyst at Florida (2019).
Frey also has previous stints at Florida State (2018), Michigan (2017, 2008-10), Indiana (2011-16), West Virginia (2007), and South Florida (1999-2006). In addition to coaching offensive lines throughout his career, Frey has also coached defensive ends. He served as a co-offensive coordinator during his last 3 seasons at Indiana, and he was the offensive recruiting coordinator at Duke in 2021.
In 2015, Frey helped a Hoosier offense that was one of the most effective in Big Ten history. The 2015 Indiana offense was just the fourth in FBS history with a 3,500-yard passer, multiple 1,000-yard runners, and a 1,000-yard receiver. Indiana also became the first Big Ten team since the 1995 Ohio State Buckeyes to lead the league in total offense, scoring offense, and passing offense. Frey was nominated for the Broyles Award that year for his efforts.
