Kentucky has another chance to prove itself on Saturday night in what’s so far been a breakout season under new head coach Will Stein, and on the eve of the huge Week 7 matchup in Norman, the Wildcats announced the 4 players who will lead them into battle.
On Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network, Kentucky, which has soared into the AP rankings to No. 15 on the strength of a 4-game winning streak, will face unranked but rejuvenated Oklahoma.
While the Cats are streaking since that Week 2 loss to Alabama, coming into Saturday night’s matchup at 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC, Oklahoma turned a terrible September into a potential season turning point in October with last week’s victory over then-No. 1 Texas. The Sooners are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the SEC as Stein and the Wildcats come calling to Norman.
On Friday afternoon, more than 24 hours before kickoff of the all-important SEC battle, Kentucky revealed who its 4 captains will be for the matchup. Interestingly, 2 of the 4 choices are former Oklahoma players, so both fan bases should be somewhat familiar with the captain selections that were made on the eve of the game.
Kentucky is going with this quartet of captains: senior wide receiver Nic Anderson, senior defensive back Ty Bryant, senior defensive lineman Tavion Gadson and senior running back Jovantae Barnes.
The former Sooners among the captains are Barnes, who played at Oklahoma from 2022-25, and Anderson, who played for the Sooners from 2022-24 before transferring to LSU in 2025.
So, both Barnes and Anderson are in their first seasons at Kentucky. Anderson has 12 catches for 149 yards and 1 touchdown so far this season, while Barnes has carried the ball 23 times for 140 yards and 1 TD.
Bryant has 44 total tackles, 20 of them solo, with half a sack, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception.
Meanwhile, Gadson has 16 total tackles, 6 of them solo, with 1.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.
Kentucky will lean on those 4 players for leadership in Norman, and here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Wildcats’ chances to beat Oklahoma on the road and in primetime:
