Kentucky coach Mark Stoops claims this year’s team is better ‘than we’ve ever been’

If Kentucky coach Mark Stoops is right, then Wildcats fans should be in for an enjoyable season.
During an interview with Kentucky Sports Radio, Stoops praised how his team has performed through the first three weeks of fall camp. And not only that, but he claimed that this team is the best he’s had during his time with the Wildcats.
“Without a doubt, we’re a stronger football team this year,” Stoops told KSR. “Whether we play better or whether we win those games, that’s why we play them. But we’re a better team this year than we’ve ever been. And as I say all the time, we should be. How it translates to wins and losses, that’s why we’ve got to go play because I can’t just say that.
“We have a great opportunity. I like this football team. But until you go play, you don’t know exactly what we have.”
Stoops is entering his sixth season at Kentucky. During his tenure, the Wildcats have never won more than seven games in a season. They have gone 7-6 each of the past two years.
But with the veteran leadership that Kentucky returns, it could be set to have a better season this year, which would back up the comments that Stoops made.
While Stoops was eager to praise his team, he wasn’t ready to reveal who will start at quarterback for the Wildcats when they open the season against Central Michigan on Sept. 1.
“I’ve thought about it, but I haven’t made a decision on it as far as when and how I’ll make that public,” Stoops told KSR.
