Kentucky has had a remarkably busy Sunday on the recruiting trail โ in both basketball and football.
On Sunday morning, Mark Pope landed his biggest-ever recruit with the Wildcats as 5-star shooting guard Ryan Hampton pledged to the men’s basketball program. Not to be outdone, Will Stein later picked up a pair of four-star 2027 recruits for the football team in linebacker Drew Williams and in-state defensive lineman Malachi Brown.
You can add another name to the list for Stein: Austin Coles, a three-star South Florida product who became the third 2027 recruit of the day to commit to Wildcats football. Coles primarily plays wide receiver, but he also holds an athlete designation.
On 247Sports’ composite ratings, Coles is considered the No. 80 wide receiver in his class. Kansas State and Virginia Tech were his other two finalists, while he currently holds offers from 22 programs.
Coles’ decision makes him the 21st player to commit to Kentucky out of the class of 2027, a group that ranks No. 12 nationally. It’s impressive work for Stein as he looks to reshape the Wildcats roster. That’s not to mention his transfer portal haul for the 2026 season, which ranked No. 10 in the country.
