It’s been a good day for Kentucky recruiting.
Hours after landing the highest-rated recruit of the Mark Pope era over in basketball and around the same time as 4-star LB Drew Williams committed, the Wildcats football team landed a pledge from 4-star defensive lineman Malachi Brown. Even better, Kentucky landed the Cobin high school prospect over rivals Tennessee and Louisville.
As mentioned, Brown hails from Corbin, Kentucky and is considered one of the top 5 players out of the Bluegrass state. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brown — a 4-star prospect — is considered to be the No. 262 overall player and No. 4 prospect out of Kentucky, as well as the No. 30 defensive lineman.
In addition to Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisville, Brown also held offers from programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana, Miami and Purdue, to name a few.
Will Stein’s first class at Kentucky is shaping up to be a good one. The Wildcats own 20 commitments (including Brown and Williams) in the 2027 cycle and rank No. 14 in the class, currently placed 4th in the SEC.
Brown is the 3rd addition along the defensive line, joining 3-star prospects Griff Galloway and Elijah Brown.
