Kentucky is working hard to improve the roster for the 2025 football season, and the Wildcats secured a piece for the immediate and short-term future from the portal on Wednesday morning.
According to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer with CBS Sports/247 Sports, transfer offensive lineman Cameron Jones out of James Madison has signed with Kentucky. Jones brings with him 3 years of eligibility for Mark Stoops and the Wildcats.
Jones was originally a prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, joining the Dukes out of Weir High School in Weirton, West Virginia. He received offers from JMU, Marshall, Akron and Eastern Michigan out of high school.
At JMU, the 6-foot-6 and 330-pound Jones redshirted in 2023 before appearing in just one game during the bowl game for the 2024 season. While he is likely a developmental prospect for Kentucky, he has the ideal size for the offensive line in the SEC.
Jones joins a transfer recruiting class for Kentucky that has been ranked 10th nationally, per 247 Sports. That group includes 26 total players, with a focus on the trenches, with 7 offensive linemen. We’ll see how that group helps the Wildcats rebound after a 4-8 season in 2024 and the first year without a bowl appearance for Kentucky since 2015.
