Kentucky is entering the Will Stein era, as he is the new coach of the Wildcats after a successful run as the offensive coordinator at Oregon. He has a tough task of replacing Mark Stoops, who is the all-time leader in wins at Kentucky.

Stein was brought in to get the team more competitive in the SEC, but to also bring in top talent on the offensive side of the ball. However, the Wildcats got some bad news on that front as 2027 quarterback DJ Hunter announced he was no longer committed to Kentucky.

He chose Kentucky over other schools such as Ole Miss and South Florida. He had been committed to Kentucky for over 10 months, but will now be on the market as he prepares for his senior season.

According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Hunter is a 3-star prospect and the No.41 quarterback in the class. The Georgia native is the No. 67 player in the state, as well as the No. 597 player in the class.

The Wildcats have only two commits from the class of 2027. They are offensive lineman Brady Hull and safety Larron Westmoreland. There is still a ton of work to do in the class for Kentucky, but now they will also be looking for a quarterback.
