Kentucky TE C.J. Conrad working to adjust after defenses have started keying on him

Kentucky TE C.J. Conrad showed flashes of brilliance as a sophomore in 2016, recording four touchdown catches on only 19 total receptions.
Though he’s scored three touchdowns already this year, he only has nine catches through seven games and hasn’t had a reception in Kentucky’s last three contests.
Conrad said he needs to adjust his plan of attack now that teams are keying on him, adding that he needs to up his physical play at the line of scrimmage (via 247Sports):
“I got away from what I do these past three weeks,” Conrad said. “Teams are keying on me now. I see that. It’s definitely a little tougher getting covered a little differently. I’m getting bumped a little bit more. But I’ve gotta be better than that.”
Still, the team is sitting at 5-2, so Conrad is happy to help in other ways, even when he’s not catching the ball:
“We’re 2-1 in games I haven’t caught a ball,” Conrad said. “I’m all about the team. I’m all about getting wins at the end of the day.”
If Conrad can get back on track, Kentucky will be much better off for it. The Wildcats struggled on that side of the ball in a 45-7 loss at Mississippi State last weekend, but if Conrad can step up moving forward, the Wildcats should improve.
