Kevin Sumlin gives update on Texas A&M QB Nick Starkel’s ankle injury

After starting off with a bang against UCLA on Sunday night, everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the Texas A&M Aggies.
Perhaps the worst news to come from the epic collapse that saw the Aggies blow a huge lead and lose 45-44, though, was that starting QB Nick Starkel went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter.
On Monday evening, coach Kevin Sumlin said the redshirt freshman has already undergone surgery on his broken ankle and his status for the rest of the season is unknown:
Sumlin said on radio show Nick Starkel had surgery on broken ankle & Donovan Wilson had foot surgery. Don't know if will return this season.

To his credit, Starkel seems to have a positive attitude about the whole situation, tweeting his thanks for all the support he’s been receiving through this trying process:

Starkel may be fine, but Texas A&M isn’t after Sunday night’s collapse. If Kellen Mond and Jake Hubenak can’t pick up the slack at the quarterback position, it might turn into a long season in College Station.
