Kewan Lacy defines his ‘unfinished business’ at Ole Miss

If anyone questioned Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy’s intentions when he chose to return to the Rebels for the 2026 season instead of choosing to entertain highly lucrative transfer portal options, he delivered his rationale very succinctly Wednesday on Day 3 of SEC Media Days in Tampa.
“The national championship,” Lacy told reporters when asked about his unfinished business following a successful 2025 campaign in Oxford.
Lacy could have cashed in after his sophomore season at Ole Miss, one that saw the Dallas product pile up more than 100 yards from scrimmage in eight games and chew up 229 total yards against Florida.
Lacy, a Missouri transfer, got even better as the stage got bigger – rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns against SEC champion Georgia in the CFP quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl and then rumbling for 103 yards and a score against Miami in the CFP semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl.
In all, Lacy finished the 2025 season with 1,567 rushing yards (third-best in the nation) and 24 rushing scores (second-best in the nation. And now paired with returning starting quarterback Trinidad Chambliss for the 2026 campaign, Lacy figures to be one the standout running backs in the conference.
Ole Miss kicks off the 2026 season at home against Louisville on Sept. 6 (7:30 pm ET, ABC) and begins conference play against former Rebels coach Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers in Oxford on Sept. 19 (7:30 pm ET, ABC).
