The first season of the Kirby Smart era hasn’t gone as planned for Georgia.

The Bulldogs are 4-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play through Week 7, and get Week 8 off to focus on their annual showdown with Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 29.

On the weekly SEC teleconference, Smart identified where he’s looking for improvement in the bye week.

“One thing is tough but I would say special teams, we have to get more consistent there,” Smart said. “The biggest glaring area is special teams for us.”

The staff will be taking an all hands on deck approach for improving the special teams.

“It’s on all of the coaches, I don’t believe in having one coach primarily focus on special teams by himself,” Smart said. “We won’t be tweaking anything there.”
