Kirby Smart reacts to locker room speeches leaking to social media: ‘It’s not something I want’
The Georgia Bulldogs‘ win over the Alabama Crimson Tide was Kirby Smart’s third victory in 10 games against his Tuscaloosa brethren. As the preeminent programs in college football, these matchups mean a lot to both sides. Smart knew what buttons to press ahead of and after the Bulldogs’ victory, but he wished those moments stayed private.
In wake of social media leaks of his pregame and postgame speeches, Smart spoke about the sanctity of the locker room. He expressed disappointment that his words were made available for public consumption.

“It’s happened before. It’s not something I want,” Smart said at his Monday press conference. “I feel like that’s a spot that you should be able to feel safe to talk to your team and communicate with your team. It’s happened before to us. We’ve got to do a better job managing it, honestly.”
Georgia (6-0, 4-0 SEC) is now the No. 1 team in the AP poll. The Bulldogs’ matchup with Alabama represented its first game against a ranked opponent this season, but their dominance in their other victories has kept them high in the weekly rankings. They’ll face Auburn (3-2, 1-2 SEC) in their first contest as the top squad in the nation on Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
