The Georgia Bulldogs looked like the 2-time defending national champions on Saturday as they defeated Tennessee, 38-10. The Volunteers scored on a 75-yard touchdown on the first play of the game, but did little after that.
It was a great win for the Bulldogs, but there were some injuries in the game, and coach Kirby Smart talked about them after the game.
The first player Smart talked about was on offensive lineman Tate Ratledge, who left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury.
โTate banged knees, so we felt he might be able to get back in there,โ Smart said. โHe tried to go, but couldnโt, thereโs no X-ray, no damage, so he tells me heโs going to be able to play this week. Weโll see.โ
Another Bulldog player who was injured was wide receiver Rara Thomas, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury.
โThe X-rays were negative, it wasnโt an ankle sprain, it bothered him in warmups,โ Smart said. โMaybe a foot sprain, which is what Kamari (Lassiter) has been dealing with. We donโt really know, but the X-rays are negative, so thatโs really good news. But itโs not an ankle.โ
And the third and last player Smart talked about was wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who left in the first quarter after he reaggravated the ankle injury he suffered against Ole Miss.
โLadd had an ankle (injury) last week and he didnโt practice all week,โ Smart said. โWe thought heโd be able to go, but he was not really able to go. He tried, got out there in warm-ups but he didnโt do much.โ
The Bulldogs will be in action next week against Georgia Tech, but have the SEC Championship looming in 2 weeks against Alabama.
