Kirk Herbstreit names 3 SEC coaches among top performers in Week 11

Published:
Kirk Herbstreit spotlighted 3 coaches from the SEC as part of his weekly top performers, based on their teams’ efforts in Week 11.
Atop Herbstreit’s list was Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea. The Commodores saw themselves gain a rare selection to Herbstreit’s top-performing teams list thanks to a 24-21 upset win over Kentucky. Vandy had lost 26 in a row against SEC opponents, its last conference win coming in 2019 against MIssouri. Thanks in part to the efforts of Mike Wright, Re’Mahn Davis, and Will Sheppard, though, Lea has his biggest win in his still-brief tenure at Vanderbilt.
Cadillac Williams and Billy Napier also found themselves on Herbstreit’s list.
Williams, in his 1st home game as Auburn’s interim head coach, led the Tigers to a 13-10 win over Texas A&M, ending a 5-game losing streak and keeping their bowl hopes alive for at least 1 more week. Napier led Florida to a blowout win over South Carolina, its 6th victory in the series in 8 years. The Gators gashed the Gamecocks for an incredible 374 rushing yards while forcing 3 turnovers on fumbles.
