Kirk Herbstreit’s Week 8 playoff projection: 1 SEC team in, 1 just outside
Alabama was nowhere to be found within last week’s College Football Playoff projection from Kirk Herbstreit.
The ESPN analyst usually includes his projected four-team field as well as his first two teams “left out.” This week, though, the Crimson Tide (7-1) have moved into that group, entering a bye before hosting LSU in what could set up Alabama for a run to the SEC championship.
My top 4 after WEEK 8.
1-Ohio State
2-Baylor
3-LSU
4-Clemson
Next 2
Bama

LSU (7-0) will enjoy a bye next week as well. For now, Herbstreit projects those Tigers as the SEC’s lone representative in this year’s playoff.
Alabama won, 19-14, with Herbstreit praising the Tide — and some of his followers asking him what happened to “game control,” a 2014 catch phrase that essentially meant winning impressively, or not, counts.
What a game. Congrats Bama on finding a way. Keeps their dreams alive. You have to feel for Butch Jones & the Vols–played a hell of a game!

In other news, Herbstreit’s No. 2 team — Baylor — lost its starting quarterback at least for a while Saturday when Seth Russell broke a bone in his neck. Alabama is the only one-loss team currently in the College Football Playoff discussion, according to Herbstreit.
