No. 17 Alabama earned back plenty of the respect it lost in the season-opening loss at Florida State on Saturday night by going to Athens and taking down No. 5 Georgia 24-21.
Among those offering praise was ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who called the Tide-Bulldogs ABC broadcast along with Chris Fowler.
“Our crew is really familiar with Kalen DeBoer over the years, watching his games and calling a lot of his games,” Herbstreit said as the Crimson Tide celebrated at Samford Stadium. “If you’re an Alabama fan you’ve kinda been one foot in, one foot out on Kalen DeBoer. This is what Kalen DeBoer is.
“This kind of creativity offensively, toughness, ability to battle back. This is what he has done everywhere he has been as a head coach. This Alabama team was backed into a corner after a Week 1 loss. They clearly have come together and have they come out swinging. This has been on display tonight in Athens.”
Alabama stays in the SEC this coming Saturday with another test at home against No. 18 Vanderbilt, a team that stunned the then-No. 1 Tide in Nashville last season.
