Kyle Trask has officially been welcomed to Tompa Bay.

The former Florida quarterback told Paul Finebaum on Friday that he received a welcome message from Tom Brady shortly after he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend.

โ€œA couple days after the draft he texted me, congratulated me, welcoming me to the team and letting me know that we can get together and throw whenever I get to town and get settled in and things like that,โ€ Trask said on The Paul Finebaum Show. โ€œJust those little things like that mean a lot for a rookie coming up, to have those veteran players reach out, it really makes you feel welcome.โ€

Trask is expected to learn from Brady with the opportunity to potentially take over as the franchise quarterback when Brady hangs it up.

โ€œItโ€™s definitely very surreal for me,โ€ Trask said. โ€œA player I definitely looked up to a lot growing up throughout the years. Just watching him on tape, heโ€™s definitely still got it. Heโ€™s very efficient throwing the football and he definitely knows the recipe for success. Itโ€™s an honor just to be in the same building as him.โ€

Trask had to wait until the end of the second round to be picked but heads into ideal situation to begin his pro career.

โ€œTo be on a team like the Buccaneers, reigning Super Bowl champions for one. And also itโ€™s right down from Gainesville so itโ€™s pretty familiar territory for me,” he told Finebaum. “And I think that theyโ€™re returning all of their starters. The organizationโ€™s in a great place and Iโ€™m just happy to be here and learn as much football as I can.โ€
