Kyle Trask has officially been welcomed to Tompa Bay.
The former Florida quarterback told Paul Finebaum on Friday that he received a welcome message from Tom Brady shortly after he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend.
โA couple days after the draft he texted me, congratulated me, welcoming me to the team and letting me know that we can get together and throw whenever I get to town and get settled in and things like that,โ Trask said on The Paul Finebaum Show. โJust those little things like that mean a lot for a rookie coming up, to have those veteran players reach out, it really makes you feel welcome.โ
Trask is expected to learn from Brady with the opportunity to potentially take over as the franchise quarterback when Brady hangs it up.
โItโs definitely very surreal for me,โ Trask said. โA player I definitely looked up to a lot growing up throughout the years. Just watching him on tape, heโs definitely still got it. Heโs very efficient throwing the football and he definitely knows the recipe for success. Itโs an honor just to be in the same building as him.โ
Trask had to wait until the end of the second round to be picked but heads into ideal situation to begin his pro career.
โTo be on a team like the Buccaneers, reigning Super Bowl champions for one. And also itโs right down from Gainesville so itโs pretty familiar territory for me,” he told Finebaum. “And I think that theyโre returning all of their starters. The organizationโs in a great place and Iโm just happy to be here and learn as much football as I can.โ
