Lane Kiffin has been in the news a lot recently. First he had an exchange with Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone after the game. With the Florida and LSU jobs opening up, he is looked at as the No. 1 candidate for those jobs.
For now, he is still the guy at Ole Miss, and the Rebels are right now well-positioned to make the College Football Playoff. The Rebels host South Carolina on Saturday, and Kiffin is calling for the fans to show up in full force.
“I hope our fans have a lot of energy and create a really great atmosphere,” Lane Kiffin said. “We have all wanted night SEC games here and we have one. I really hope we would be able to sell the game out. Kyle told me it isn’t sold out. I think that would mean a lot to our players that we can be 7-1 and our stadium be sold out.”
The Rebels got a big bounce-back victory last week as they traveled to Norman and got a 34-26 win against a Top 25 team in Oklahoma. They found themselves in a similar situation as the week before against Georgia, but they were able to make the plays in the fourth quarter this time to get the win.
Kiffin and his team are in a great position to reach the CFP as a top-10 team in the AP Poll with no remaining opponents on the schedule that are currently ranked in the top 25.
There is a lot going on at Ole Miss right now, and Kiffin sent a message to the entire fan base and university with his statements on Monday. Kickoff against South Carolina is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be on ESPN.
