Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has made national headlines for weeks as the central figure in a 3-way coaching carousel with the Rebels, the LSU Tigers and the Florida Gators – a dalliance that evidently will come to a conclusion Saturday when Kiffin informs Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter of his coaching intentions in 2026.
But in the minutes following Ole Miss’ 38-19 victory over Mississippi State in the 122nd Egg Bowl, a win that locked up the Rebels’ first 11-win regular season, Kiffin sought out On3Sports’ Ole Miss reporter Ben Garrett about Garrett’s interpretation of Kiffin’s employment dilemma.
Garrett said earlier this week on the Talk Of Champions podcast, in reference to Kiffin’s past job-hopping exploits, that you “can’t turn a hoe into a housewife; hoes don’t act right.”
Kiffin took exception to the comment and sought out Garrett after the game. Here’s a clip:
Yes, that is Kiffin confronting the reporter on the field at Davis-Wade Stadium postgame and saying “You wanna walk in here and call me a hoe? We’ll see how it goes.”
Garrett also briefly commented on the situation on social media:
Kiffin, 50, is 55-19 in his 6 seasons in Oxford, and has the Rebels as virtual locks to make the College Football Playoff for the first time. Ole Miss has recorded 4 10-win seasons in Kiffin’s 6 years, with only the COVID-shortened 2020 season and an 8-5 finish in 2022 as the exceptions.
