Lane Kiffin evaluates outing from Trinidad Chambliss: ‘Ain’t gonna play perfect every week’

Lane Kiffin, Trinidad Chambliss and the Ole Miss Rebels are 6-0 on the season. That’s the important part. But everyone involved with Ole Miss athletics would tell you that Week 7’s win was way too close for comfort.
The Rebels just barely downed Washington State 24-21 and trailed until late in the 3rd quarter. Chambliss had his worst game as a Rebel, but the stat line doesn’t really show it. He completed 20 of his 29 passes for 2 touchdowns and no interceptions, but he was largely ineffective as a runner and lost a fumble.
Following the game, Kiffin was asked to evaluate the performance from his quarterback. Here’s what he had to say:
The last sentence is especially important. Chambliss has been fantastic for the Rebels since taking over for Austin Simmons, and he’s genuinely looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC in the process. If this is what a bad game looks like for Chambliss, it’s hard not to think the Rebels are in pretty good shape moving forward.
However, Ole Miss simply cannot afford another performance like today against Georgia or Oklahoma, their next 2 opponents — both of which are on the road.
These next 2 weeks are absolutely massive for Ole Miss football. Can the Rebels shape up and earn their way into the College Football Playoff?
