Lane Kiffin is going to meet with his Ole Miss players to talk about the rumors linking the Rebels head coach with the vacant Florida head coaching position.

That’s according to a report on Friday afternoon from ESPN’s Molly McGrath. Kiffin’s name has been widespread since Florida fired head coach Billy Napier last Sunday in the wake of a 3-4 start.

Meanwhile, Lane Kiffin has his Rebels rolling in 2025, with Ole Miss off to a 6-1 start and ranked 8th in the latest AP Poll. The Rebels were undefeated until last week, when they lost at Georgia. Ole Miss has another huge SEC road game on tap for Week 9, with the Rebels playing at No. 13 Oklahoma on Saturday (noon ET, ABC), and Kiffin wants to give his players the respect they deserve by being open about the UF situation.

“Lane Kiffin told me he usually doesn’t address those kind of coaching rumors in-season, because there’s so much more football to play, and there’s so many bigger things to focus on,” McGrath said in Friday’s report from Norman, site of the Ole Miss-Oklahoma clash. “But he’s actually going to do things differently (Friday) in their team meeting — he is going to address those (Florida) rumors with his players.”

McGrath explained why Kiffin is treating these rumors differently.

“He’s going to talk to them about it and say, ‘Hey, this is what happens when you win. This is a compliment to our players, our staff and our entire program,'” McGrath said. “He wants to talk to his players about it because there’s so many new guys on their team this year that haven’t dealt with it before.”

Here is McGrath’s full report from Norman on the Kiffin situation:
