Lane Kiffin recalls trolling Brian Kelly’s recruiting videos: ‘Do you realize you are kinda grinding?’

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is no stranger to poking the Brian Kelly bear over the years. During a recent interview, Kiffin revisited some of the more cringeworthy moments of Kelly’s early time at LSU.
Upon arriving in Baton Rouge, Kelly was at the center of a string of awkward recruiting videos produced by LSU. The topic came up when Kiffin was doing a sit-down with content creator Theo Von, and Kiffin admitted, “It was terrible.”
“I think I wrote something like do you know they are filming you? Like did you put this out on purpose? You know they’re going to film you when you’re doing this?” cracked Kiffin. “It’s not like it’s his first one. He did it the year before, I’m like do you realize you are kinda grinding on the dude?”

In the winter of 2022, Kiffin actually playfully trolled Kelly and asked the head coach via Twitter if he had lost a bet or something. However, it’s not the only time Kiffin has called out the head coach at LSU.
After LSU’s season-opening against USC this past season, Kiffin was at it again after Kelly’s viral press conference outburst. Kiffin wondered on social media if all the livid Kelly needed was a hug and a Coke to get over a rough opener for a 3rd straight season with the Tigers.
We’ll see what the 2025 season has to offer between Kiffin and Kelly, but it looks like friendly barbs and trolling will continue, at least on the part of Kiffin.
