LaNorris Sellers continues hot streak, South Carolina dismantles Oklahoma

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: South Carolina is playing its best football entering the month of November.
The Gamecocks have now won 3 straight after downing Oklahoma 42-25 on Saturday. South Carolina once again enjoyed an excellent outing from quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who just wrapped up the best month of football he’s ever played. And while Sellers was great in wins over Florida and Tennessee, his performance on Saturday was flat-out otherworldly.
Sellers finished Week 9’s win 19-of-24 for 301 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also led all rushers on the afternoon, totaling 13 carries for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s his second straight game accounting for 5 total touchdowns and his season-high in passing yards and rushing touchdowns.
Sellers’ arm is just absurd. He demonstrated why early in the 2nd quarter, giving South Carolina a 21-7 lead.
That’s an NFL throw, folks.
Sellers outgained Oklahoma in total yardage by a significant margin. The Sooners finished Saturday’s contest with 359 yards of total offense — Sellers finished with 397. And keep in mind, most of that Oklahoma yardage game in the 4th quarter with the game out of hand.
South Carolina was great on 3rd and 4th down on Saturday, completing 9 of their 14 attempts (1-of-1 on 4th). The finished drives in the red zone well, too — kicker Malik Orsan didn’t attempt a field goal as the Gamecocks finished 6-of-6 in the red zone with 6 touchdowns.
The Gamecocks are now 5-3 on the season and, if they keep playing like this, still have an outside (emphasis on outside) shot at reaching the College Football Playoff. They’ll certainly have to earn it: South Carolina still has to play Texas A&M, at Arkansas, Georgia and at Clemson.
