The South Carolina Gamecocks just wrapped up what turned out to be a very disappointing 2025 campaign, entering the season as a top-10 squad with legit College Football Playoff aspirations and finishing with a 4-8 record.
Star quarterback LaNorris Sellers also had a very underwhelming campaign under center for the Gamecocks after entering the year with legit first-overall draft pick and Heisman trophy hype.
Many wondered what Sellers would elect to do following such a disappointing season, and the redshirt sophomore appears to have made a decision, with ESPN insider Pete Thamel reporting that the dual-threat gunslinger has informed the program he intends to return for another year under center in Columbia.
According to Thamel, Sellers told the staff at Carolina that he intends to return next season, and the 2 sides are working to hammer out an NIL deal that is expected to be finalized in the near future.
Sellers racked up over 2,700 all-purpose yards and 18 total touchdowns across his 12 starts for the Gamecocks in 2025, but also struggled at times with ball security, throwing 8 picks and fumbling 4 times.
With a new offensive staff in place for 2026 at Carolina, Sellers looks to be coming back for at least one more run with the Gamecocks, where he will be looking to regain that first-round NFL draft grade he had prior to 2025.
