LaNorris Sellers did not need long to score his first touchdown of 2025.
The South Carolina quarterback recorded the Gamecocks’ first score of the season on their first possession of the year. Shane Beamer‘s team faced 3rd-and-5 against Virginia Tech when Sellers took off on a 15-yard TD run. It was a 7-play, 75-yard opening drive for the Gamecocks, taking just 2:51 off the clock to break the scoring ice in Atlanta.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Sellers in 2025 as he enters his third season in Beamer’s program.
A redshirt sophomore, Sellers had his first taste of being South Carolina’s QB1 last year. In 2024, Sellers was 196-of-299 passing for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He added 166 carries for 674 yards and 7 TDs on the ground.
Sellers’ sensational season led to SEC coaches naming him the conference’s Freshman of the Year and the FWAA’s National Freshman Offensive Player of the Year.
With Sellers back for another year, expectations are high for South Carolina. The Gamecocks begin the year ranked No. 13 in the AP Top 25 and could move up with a win over Virginia Tech.
The game, currently in the 1st quarter, is airing on ESPN.
