Laura Rutledge is departing the SEC Network and will no longer host ‘SEC Nation.’
Rutledge and ESPN announced that news on Tuesday morning in a joint statement. Rutledge, who has been with ESPN since 2014, is departing the SEC Nation desk as she expands her NFL coverage responsibilities with the World Wide Leader.
As part of the announcement, Rutledge penned a heartfelt letter to SEC fans. Here’s an excerpt from the letter:
Itโs hard to say goodbye to something that has given me so much. SEC Nation has shaped me, challenged me and given me memories I will carry forever. While this chapter is coming to a close, the impact itโs had on me never will. Iโll still be involved in college football and the SEC and Iโm excited for those opportunities.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your Saturdays, your traditions and your stories. It has truly been an honor.
With Gratitude,
Laura Rutledge

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey also issued a statement on Rutledge’s departure from the show.
“Laura Rutledge has been a cherished part of the SEC Network since it started and played a key role in making SEC Nation the top pregame show in college football,” Sankey said in a release. “Her work ethic, warmth and deep knowledge of the SEC created a strong bond between fans all over the country, truly capturing what makes our Conference special. Weโre so thankful for everything sheโs done and wish her all the best as she continues her amazing career in broadcasting.”
Rutledge, a Florida alum, began serving as a Monday Night Football sideline reporter in 2025. She’s also the host of NFL Live, a role she’s had since June of 2020.
ESPN has not yet named a replacement for Rutledge on the SEC Nation desk.
