The UCF Knights finished off a perfect 13-0 season with a win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day and have been proclaiming themselves “national champions” ever since.

Though the actual National Championship Game will be played Monday night between Alabama and Georgia in Atlanta, the Knights are going all-in with their title claim.

Now, they even have the Orlando Sentinel involved, as UCF’s hometown newspaper ran a full section proclaiming the Knights as the real champions:

Auburn did beat both Georgia and Alabama this year, and that’s why UCF is claiming the title, but it likely won’t gain much traction around the rest of the country after Monday night.

However, it’s a great moment for a program that was winless only a couple of seasons ago, so they’re going to celebrate the perfect campaign as much as they can.
