LSU baseball is not far removed from hoisting a national title in 2023, but the Tigers are coming off a disappointing conclusion to the 2024 season.

Last season, LSU failed to advance out of the regionals, falling to North Carolina in Chapel Hill. But the Tigers have reloaded and are ready to bounce back, entering 2025 with a top 5 ranking nationally.

On Friday, LSU will start the season with a 3-game weekend serious against Purdue Fort Wayne at Alex Box Stadium. Fans also know who will start those games now with the Tigers announcing the weekend rotation on Wednesday.

LSU’s weekend starters to begin the season will be Kade Anderson (Friday), Anthony Eyanson (Saturday) and Chase Shores (Sunday).

Heading into the start of the season, LSU has the 2nd-best odds to win the College World Series, checking in at +800 at DraftKings. Only Tennessee (+700) has better odds, and be sure to track what betting apps are legal in Louisiana for the movement all season long.

Anderson, the lefty of the group, was a 9-game starter for the Tigers as a freshman in 2024. He posted a 3.99 ERA across 18 total appearances while striking out 59 in 38.1 innings pitched.

Eyanson is a key transfer pickup for LSU and the most experienced player among the 3 weekend starters. In 2 seasons at UC San Diego, Eyanson appeared in 22 games with 16 starts, posting a 3.41 ERA with 119 strikeouts in 111 innings pitched.

Shores appeared in just 7 games for LSU last season with 4 starts but was impressive in that limited action. He struck out 15 in 18.1 innings pitched with a 1.96 ERA for the Tigers.

We’ll see how it shakes out for LSU to begin the season with expectations high in Baton Rouge.
