LSU’s iconic Purple and Gold jerseys could soon be adorned with advertisements, according to a report.

While NCAA rules currently prohibit programs from putting advertisements on jerseys, LSU is already making preparations for if that rule changes in the near future.

According to Wilson Alexander of The Advocate, LSU is hoping to have jersey ad sales as a revenue stream to help pay student-athletes during the revenue-sharing era, which begins this fall.

Preparations have gone as far as identifying a partner — which was not named in the story — and planning where the advertisements would be placed on uniforms.

Jersey patch sales would generate millions of dollars in revenue for LSU annually, according to the report. However, deputy athletic director Clay Harris indicated the advertisements wouldn’t be overwhelming.

“We don’t have this as some crazy, NASCAR-like situation,” Harris told The Advocate.

It’s unclear if the NCAA has plans to lift the ban on jersey ad sales in the near future, but LSU is searching for ways to create more revenue in this era of college athletics. Advertisements will appear at the 25-yard line at Tiger Stadium for the first time this fall.

LSU will begin the 2025 season against Clemson on Aug. 30.
