LSU has fired offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, according to a report.

That news was first shared by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Monday morning. Sloan was in his second season as LSU’s offensive coordinator and his fourth year overall with the program. He was LSU‘s quarterbacks coach when Jayden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy at LSU back in 2023.

LSU fired head coach Brian Kelly on Sunday evening. Kelly and athletic director Scott Woodward reportedly had a “very tense” meeting over potential staff changes, which included talks over Sloan’s future at the program.

LSU’s offense has been a major disappointment this season and is a significant reason why the Tigers sit at just 5-3 in SEC play. The Tigers rank 77th nationally with 5.59 yards per play so far this season.

Thamel reports that LSU will turn to tight ends coach Alex Atkins as its play caller for the remainder of the season. Atkins previously served as offensive coordinator at Charlotte and Florida State. His tenure at FSU included the 2023 season when the Noles began the year with a 13-0 record and won the ACC title.

LSU has named Frank Wilson as its interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season.
