LSU knows its remaining time with Garrett Nussmeier is short. As a result, the Tigers are on the prowl for their next long-term signal-caller. On Monday morning, they may have landed him.

QB Peyton Houston has committed to LSU, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. Houston, a Shreveport, LA native, is the No. 11 QB prospect in the country, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He had offers from 10 other SEC schools — including Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M — and a litany of other big-name programs, but decided to stay home.

By securing Houston, the Tigers have already had more success recruiting passers for 2027 than they did for 2026, where they have (so far) failed to net a single high school quarterback prospect.

Houston is the first commit of LSU’s 2027 class, but he could be joined by some other incredible prospects sooner rather than later.

Houston attends Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. He’s listed at 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, as he begins his junior season of high school football this fall.
