Transfer portal season is in full swing across college football, and LSU has seen a ton of turnover from its 2025 squad following the arrival of new head coach Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin was one of the best in the game at using the portal to bring in fresh talent while at Ole Miss, but the portal works both ways, and LSU has lost several seasoned veterans from last season’s team over the past week.
That list grew longer still on Thursday, with On3’s Hayes Fawcett reporting that veteran defensive back Jardin Gilbert made the decision to move on from LSU after spending the previous 2 seasons with the program.
A 4-star recruit in the 2021 cycle, Gilbert initially signed with Texas A&M out of high school and spent 3 years in College Station, racking up 79 tackles and 2 picks across 24 appearances with the Aggies.
The Louisiana native transferred into LSU prior to the 2024 season and had a very productive first year with the Bayou Bengals before being limited to just 5 appearances in 2025 due to a lingering shoulder injury.
Now down to his final year of eligibility, Gilbert is on the move once again looking for the third and final stop of his collegiate career.
