LSU OC Charlie Weis Jr. drawing NFL interest, per report

When Lane Kiffin departed Ole Miss for LSU, he also brought most of his offensive staff from Oxford with him down to Baton Rouge, most notably his longtime offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Charlie Weis Jr.
Weis and some of the other staffers were allowed to coach Ole Miss through their College Football Playoff semifinal run, but once that concluded, they all took up their new posts under Kiffin with the Bayou Bengals.
Weis obviously has a very good working relationship with Kiffin, but reports have begun to surface that the offensive guru has been drawing some legitimate interest from the NFL ranks this coaching cycle.
According to New York Giants’ beat writer Pat Leonard, Weis’ name has come up “a lot” in coaching searches across the NFL, and the Philadelphia Eagles have looked into him as a potential fit for their vacant coordinator position.
Talented play callers making the jump from college to the NFL is nothing new, but this would be a very big blow for Kiffin and the Tigers should Weis ultimately end up leaving for the professional ranks.
All of this is just speculation at this point, but LSU players, coaches, and fans are sure to be watching this situation very closely over the coming weeks.
