LSU has lifted the indefinite suspension of offensive lineman Jevonte Domond despite a pending charge of battery and domestic abuse.
“He’s in position to compete to play,” coach Les Miles said Wednesday, according to The Times-Picayune. “We’re letting the disposition of whatever entanglement he’s involved in run its course. He’s not suspended.”
Domond was arrested and jailed in May on charges of felony domestic abuse battery with strangulation, according to arrest records from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department.
According to a report from The Advocate, Domond was arrested after a fight with his fiancée. Domond allegedly grabbed the woman by her neck from behind while she was tending to their newborn child, causing her to begin to black out, slammed her down onto a couch and bit her on the hip. Domond’s fiancée allegedly pepper sprayed him multiple times.
Domond, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound blocker who transferred to LSU from Glendale Community College in Arizona last year, was indefinitely suspended from the team following his arrest.
LSU opens fall practice today.
