Paul Mainieri will coach at least one more game for LSU. The Tigers fought off elimination again with a 9-4 win over Gonzaga in the Eugene Regional.

LSU looked like it could be in trouble in the first inning as Gonzaga loaded the bases and jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Tigers answered strongly with four runs of their own to take the lead.

LSU extended its lead to 6-2 in the second inning. Gonzaga added one run in the top of the third inning but the Tigers widened their lead in the bottom half of the inning adding two more runs to make it 8-3. Each squad added one more run in the sixth inning.

AJ Labas went eight innings, picking up the win. He struck out eight batters in his 123-pitch outing. Though nine runs total were put on the board, Gavin Dugas was the only Tiger with multiple RBIs (2).

The big question will be whether LSU has enough gas left in the tank to force a Monday game. First pitch for the regional final against Oregon is set for 9 p.m. CT/10 p.m. ET. The Tigers need to beat Oregon in back-to-back games to advance to Super Regionals.
