LSU reportedly hiring away key Ohio State recruiting staffer who worked under Nick Saban at Alabama

LSU has reportedly hired away another recruiting staffer of note.
Sam Petitto is leaving his post as Ohio State assistant athletic director for player personnel to join the LSU staff. Per FootballScoop.com, Petitto will serve as Director of Scouting and Recruiting Strategy with the Tigers.

Petitto is a native of Amite, Louisiana. He knows the SEC well, spending time as Director of Personnel Operations at Alabama on Nick Saban‘s staff for 8 seasons. He also served on the Georgia staff for 2 seasons as Director of Player Personnel at Georgia. Ohio State hired Petitto in February 2024.
Petitto is the latest front office hire for LSU on the personnel front. Earlier this week, the Tigers hired away Kelvin Bolden from Ole Miss and Jeff Martin from USC. Martin was with the program during the 2019 national championship and also served under Saban and Les Miles.
As for LSU’s current recruiting efforts, the Tigers have 16 commitments in the No. 7 class nationally on the Composite.
