LSU appears to be in the final stages of securing Lane Kiffin as its next head football coach.

According to college football insider Ross Dellenger, LSU is set to send two private planes to Oxford on Sunday to pick up Kiffin and his family. Per Dellenger, those travel plans were arranged following a call between Kiffin’s reps and LSU decision-makers on Saturday night.

Kiffin is expected to decide between LSU and Ole Miss on Saturday, but it seems as though this saga could stretch to Sunday. If Auburn upsets Alabama in the Iron Bowl, Kiffin’s Rebels would qualify for the SEC Championship.

It’s unclear whether or not Kiffin would change his plans in order to remain at Ole Miss and coach in the SEC title game. Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter has reportedly asked for Kiffin to make a decision — one way or the other — by this weekend.

Ole Miss has also reportedly been in contact with other candidates in preparation for Kiffin’s potential departure.

This is a developing situation that may take more time to fully unfold.

Here’s a live look at the LSU coaching search market on Kalshi:

Kalshi is a legal prediction market that allows users to make predictions on topics such as sports, politics or, in this case, coaching searches. Kiffin has been the favorite on Kalshi to take over as LSU’s next head coach since early November.
