LSU continued its strong season in Week 7, as the Tigers moved to 5-1 with a 20-10 victory over South Carolina. The offense has been up-and-down throughout the season, but a big part of that is that Trey’Dez Green has had to deal with some injuries.
The 6-foot-7 240 pound sophomore had big expectations entering this year, and Green was finally able to deliver in a big way this past weekend. He finished the game against the Gamecocks with 8 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Green was recognized for his performance, as he was named the John Mackey player of the week, given to the best tight end in the country every week.
Green scored a touchdown in the season-opening win at Clemson, but he missed the last two games with a sprained MCL.
A healthy Green makes this offense much more dynamic, and he could open up the passing game more for the Tigers moving forward.
LSU will be looking for another big game from him in Week 8, as the Tigers take on Vanderbilt in a game with huge SEC and College Football Playoff implications.
